estimated 715,000 residents were without health insurance before
"reform". This chart shows that 296,782 are still uninsured. Now, maybe they don't care about 5% of the population, and maybe they see this as simple collateral damage, but these are real people. They are not poor enough to get free or subsidized insurance, yet they can not afford the state mandate. Many of these "uninsured" are liable for tax penalties that they can likewise not afford. The myth of "universal" health care is demonstrated by this simple picture. |
